Our Country Mile.....: 2010

My name is Mary Ellen. I am wife to Josh and mother to the most precious little boy on the planet ( if I do say so myself) named James. In 2004, Josh and I married with high hopes for starting a family early on because of a cervical cancer scare. After the first year of trying, we went to the Fertility Specialist. We went through all the typical testing and I was diagnosed with PCOS. We were able to concieve 3 times but at different times in the pregnacies but we were never able to meet our precious angels. In 2007 during a break and prep for IVF Josh and I took a hiking trip, and when we came home we were excited to learn that we were pregnant. And this pregnancy took! Things were perfect until 32 weeks when my water broke and James came into the world 2 months too soon. After 30 days in the NICU and several ups and downs we brought our little 4lbs baby James home. We learned at 9 months old that our James has Perevintricular Leukomalacia, which is a form of Cerebral Palsy. So here we are on our very own Country Mile. It might not be the journey that I thought we would have but it is beautiful none the less......

Sweet Baby James is my inspiration for all that I do. He has shown all of us that no matter what a doctor says you can not do, he will do it. Being born 2 months early and spending a month in the NICU with tubes and machines hooked to him as made him a fighter. He is brave, fearless, and full of opinions and life. But most of all he has a smile and laugh that will light up a room. James is almost 2 years old in October and we are focusing on the future. James has been diagnosed with Periventricular Leukomalacia Cerebral Palsy, and even though this is a big title it comes nowhere near defining what this can and will do. We know this road will be long and hard but we are comitted to our Savior that He know the plan. So we do what we know has to be done will include sugery, physical therapy, and lots and lots of prayer.
